Kansas voters can begin using advance-ballot options for the November 3 general election on Wednesday, October 14, according to the Secretary of State. County election offices may begin in-person advance voting, and advance ballots requested by mail may start being transmitted.

The statewide date marks the earliest authorized start, not a guarantee that every county will open an in-person voting site on October 14. The Secretary of State says in-person advance voting must begin in every county by October 27. Locations and operating hours are set locally.

The regular voter-registration deadline for the November general election was October 13. The state advises voters to confirm their registration, county arrangements and ballot-return requirements with their county election office.

Advance voting is an established way to cast a ballot before Election Day. The beginning of advance voting does not indicate how any contest will be decided.
