A federal judge on Thursday temporarily barred the Trump administration from starting construction on its proposed 250-foot arch near Arlington National Cemetery. The order came hours after the National Capital Planning Commission approved the plans.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan granted a request from the District of Columbia and Virginia to hold off groundbreaking for 14 days while the court considers the challenge. The planning commission had voted 8–4 in favor of the proposal, UPI reported.

For residents following the project, the planning vote and the court order answer separate questions. Commissioners approved the design, but the government must observe the court’s temporary restriction on starting work.
