October 20, 2026 — SNN Newsroom. Major League Baseball will crown a first-time World Series champion when the Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers meet in the 2026 Fall Classic, beginning Friday, October 23, in Milwaukee.

The Rays secured the American League pennant Monday by beating the Cleveland Guardians 7–3 in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series, winning the best-of-seven matchup four games to two. Junior Caminero and Yandy Díaz each hit a two-run home run. Freddy Peralta earned ALCS Most Valuable Player honors.

Milwaukee swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in four games to win the National League Championship Series, reaching its first World Series since 1982. Tampa Bay previously appeared in 2008 and 2020. Neither franchise has won the championship.

Major League Baseball’s published schedule lists Game 1 on Friday, October 23, and Game 2 on Saturday, October 24, at Milwaukee’s American Family Field, each at 8 p.m. Eastern. The series moves to Tampa Bay for Games 3 and 4 on October 26 and 27. Additional games will be played if necessary.

The World Series is a best-of-seven competition. The Brewers hold home-field advantage, and the series marks an uncommon championship meeting between two clubs seeking their first title.
