Los Angeles voters have elected City Councilmember Nithya Raman mayor. Mayor Karen Bass called Raman on Thursday to concede, two days after the November 3 election.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Raman led 52% to 48% when Bass conceded, with about 76% of expected votes counted. Those figures describe the count at the time of the call. The Associated Press also called the race for Raman.
Raman is the first challenger in more than two decades to unseat a sitting Los Angeles mayor, according to the Times.
