ATLANTA — October 21, 2026. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of a person sought after an apparent incendiary device was thrown at the building housing federal immigration offices in downtown Atlanta Tuesday night, according to an October 21 report quoting FBI investigators.

Authorities responded to the building at 180 Ted Turner Drive, which houses U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement offices and an immigration court. According to statements attributed to the FBI, an unidentified individual apparently threw a Molotov-cocktail-style device near the building and fled. The FBI and Atlanta police reported somewhat different initial incident times; that discrepancy has not been resolved.

The FBI said it was investigating reports of an incendiary device, and evidence technicians examined the scene. There were no reported injuries and no confirmed major damage. The agency said there was no known ongoing threat to public safety following the incident, according to Associated Press reporting.

Investigation continues

The FBI’s reward announcement, reported Wednesday afternoon, sought tips about an unidentified suspect. As of the latest accounts reviewed Wednesday, officials had not announced an arrest or identified a suspect publicly. An investigation or appeal for information does not establish any individual’s guilt.

Investigators have not publicly established a motive. The incident should not be attributed to a political party, protest movement or immigration advocacy group without credible evidence.
